DB Wiki Worked On
« on: September 22, 2005, 03:18:00 AM »
Worked on the wiki a bit added some pages on and/or/xor/not/!%=/%=, if anyone could take a look at them it'd be great; I'm not sure I got all the facts right. Linked a bunch more pages together, so people can continually browse through it. I'd love to know how wikipedia manages, it's nuts having to check and double check to get all the links right.

I'll be gone for a couple of days, if it hasn't been done already I'll take a look at getting started on all the tie stuff.

It took me a little time to figure out all the syntax too.  Such a pain.

Umm...I was cycling back and forth between the wiki's and the old one glitched on two different occasions and let me into what I'm assuming is the administrator side, with access to objects, change authorizations, etc...

Not a good thing. I'm really glad you set up the new Wiki even with all the pain involved.

Got all the tie stuff transfered over. It still needs a bunch of work. I'm thinking the pages can be moved around and combined a bit. There really isn't much in some of them.

Horray Robot DNA is done! Everything is blue :D    :)

Until I release 2.4 and there's like a dozen new commands.

Oh, that's pessimistic of me isn't it.

We should probably start on the sysvars next.  Only 200 of those things :P

Found an interesting wikki FreeBio that actually had a link to the old DB homepage and a mention of DB as an alife sim. I felt like it was fated for me to add to it :)  Corrected their link to point to our home and added a link from our links page to their site.

I think the biologists and scientists among us, might understand more of their stuff than myself. Most of it was WAY over my head, talking about Genomics.

FreeBio

From the Digital Organsim page just navigate out.

In talk section of page, just got asked:

thanks again for dropping by! Can you please license your wiki under the GFDL so that we can all legally interoperate with Wikipedia? --Await 01:58, 28 Sep 2005 (EDT)

GFDL

Not sure exactly what all licensing under GFDL(everyone can copy what you write...how it already is...) entails, Nums' call on this one.

Alright enough with the wikki's, I need to get out sometime B)

I'm all about open source no worries copy copy haloo!

In my mind intellectual property is an oxymoron, so yeah, I'll give the license a once over in a bit and make any modifications necessary.

Although I'm not sure we have a tremendous amount to offer any non-DBers, I bet we could interlink some things in the FreeBio wiki with ours, especially in the evo sim section.  Things like Mueller's Ratchet, Red Queen Race, etc.

Maybe we can just copy the page from wikipedia into FreeBio?  Or incorporate them both together to form an uber page?

I changed the thing in the copyright page to GNUL, but I can't figure out how to edit the toolbar thing at the bottom of the main page.

I was thinking of something similar, although not in so much detail; I was pretty wiki'd out after that  . About your first comment they made the original links to us(blank wiki and old home page), so there had to be some interest. B)
