I have a crappy local IT school certificate. However, because I was done with all my work half way through the course. My instructor recommended I dive into some MCPD stuff. (Microsoft Certified Professional Developer, it is called something different now) Although I totally flunked the test I learned a lot of interesting stuff about the new visual studio (back then it was VS2010) Microsoft provides training books on there exams. You will learn a lot but there is no guarantee that you will pass the test.
edit: My last employer just sat down with me in a meeting room, and asked me what I know. I showed him my propeller simulation (one of my side projects that draws different blade size 2D propellers with variable amounts of blades) and the interview was pretty much over.
