Yeah, after EricL shut down his IM sims theres not much going on there.
But you can still compete in the leagues by submitting a bot.
I'd recommend starting out by reading the tutorial on the wiki, and taking a look at the F3 league.
The F3 league holds a lot of tutorial bots with very simple straightforward genes.
You can read details on how to run leagues and what rules they have in the forum.
But the short version is :
F1 : No rules.
F2 : No tie feeding, no viruses, no raping.
F3 : No tie attacks, no viruses, no raping, no shell, no poison, no venom, no slime, no mem shots, no chameleon behavior.
If a bot qualifies for F3 it would automaticaly qualify for the other 2 leagues (Ofcourse the question still remains if it's able to compete in them).
There are some F2 bots on the F1 chart and some F3 bots on the F2 chart, but it's generaly hard to survive outside your own league.
Theres also a SS league (Single Store), for bots with only one store command. I think theres actualy 2 of them on the F2 chart (Brevis and OneManBucket).
But F3 is the place to start, then move on to F2 or F1. You probably won't get much in from IM... not actualy sure things work as intended, but either way EricL's sims where kind of the foundation for IM making sure new species where spreading around. Over time I think over half the stuff I've gotten in was from EricL, and it was usualy where the more interesting species used to emerge from.
