Just wanted to start a slightly random thread to say how glad I am some new people and ideas have been thrown into everything... it seems the forum was beginning to stagnate. I definitely was feeling a general disinterest in DB  :(  but seeing all these new discussions has made me want to start using it again!  :D

By the way, Elite how did you happen to find us?

I found DB through this webpage while googling for artificial life sims. At first I thought  :huh:  :o  :wacko: 'this is complicated', but persevered to learn the DNA language. Every day I deleted the program convinced that I could never learn it, only to drag it out of the recycle bin the next day to try a new idea  :D . I experimented with viruses for the first few weeks, culminating in Superioris' virus (deletes ALL the infected bot's DNA but leaves the virus intact). My first bot was Animal Superioris (it's in the beastiary starting gate) a kind of hyper-improved Animal Minimalis with a virus. It delveloped over several months and helped me learn the code. I finally stopped work on it about a week ago when I started Una (then called Dominatus Hibernatus). In contrast to Superioris, the basic Una took 1 day to program, but was developed to where it is now over about a week. I joined this forum to share my ideas (ie. Symbioticus) and participate in the community of this absolutely brilliant program.

Makes me wonder how many more people are out there programming bots without ever dropping by to say hello.  :unsure:

If anyone interested in DB is reading this then I strongly reccomend joining.

I saw a guest poking around the DNA files the other day. We could really use more newbies here  :D

Looking on the members list some people have been members for ages but haven't posted once  :(

I've got a great idea for a community project by the way. Watch this space  B)
