Sol is using a DB icon.

That's fine, Darwinbots has a non-official "copy me all you like" license ;)

To be hoenst, Carlo might hav stolen the icons from somewhere else himself.

They don't just use the icons!  They also used the name of one of our members!  Look in the readme file!

Well, if anyone did read anything, you will notice that it is [span style=\'font-size:14pt;line-height:100%\']far from finished[/span].

I always liked AL, and had worked with it for a long time.

DB is inspiring me a lot, but when I am not able to influence the community of DB, well I make my own. That's the difference between you and me Zelos, I have the creativity to start something up, and create something from scratch. Well it is not a competetion about making the best A-Life program in the world. There is nothing as the best AL, its is an individual opionion. Well I will remove the DB icons if you please, and start over! And I will now also leave this board for good. Have a good time, and luck to you all, and to DB.

It was fun as long as it lasted.

Post by: Zelos on October 15, 2005, 01:37:07 PM
hey bot, do you know any program like that?
Title: SoL
Post by: Botsareus on October 15, 2005, 01:55:13 PM
"Icon Isel" or somthing, you need to do a google search for "Icon editor".

Ofcorse an easy solution is to use c++ or .net icon editor but the ammount of colors you get sux.

I don't have the softwear since 2 years ago when my harddrive crashed so I am ns of the correct spelling.

With your vb install you can find a file called win32api.txt , it has the grey side, but it is not the dark side yet. Microsoft does not publish the "hiddin" functions of windows.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\Tools\Winapi

You need msdn to be able to make some sense of it.

Agreed. :)

Glad you(Greven) used the same basic webside interaction template as DB does.
Lord knows the other alife programs ought to do the same. Hard to tell what's active and what is a ghost site.

Hey I wouldn't mind setting up an entire forum on this site to be dedicated to greven's new creation.

Go Greven!

Couldn't care less if you want to borrow a few icons.

I don't think Carlo's minds one way or another.  Other than stopping by to see what's up from time to time, he isn't actively involved in DB anymore (one kind of gets the impression DB is going north when he would have preferred west, so to speak).

He lost interest. We all lose interest in some things from time to time.  That I've stayed with Darwinbots as long as I have is really quite remarkable, to be honest.  Longest I've ever stayed on a project.

Originally yes but you have to remember that Carlo stopped actively programming after V2.11. From there till mid 2.3 was my stuff and since then it has been mostly Num's with a bit of mine thrown in here and there.

True about me also. I think it's all the usability and community DB has going for it, otherwise I would have been long gone.

Considering DB has been released far and wide as freeware, and heavily modified at that, I'd say DB belongs to everyone.

Oh about the Icons some of them are very familiar from other aplications :)

Every other day or so, I have a registered name and I'm watching the Alife/Darwinbots/etc. pages, so I get alerted to new updates.

you can too Zelos ...
start here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alife (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alife)
in the upper right, click on login/start an account.
be sure to check the box that says "Remember across sessions"
and you won't have to log in every time you go there.
when logged in, you will also see in the upper right ... "watchlist".
if you go to the ALIFE page or DarwinBots or whatever page you want ...
click there on "watch" and it will be added to your "watchlist".
so now when you go to Wikipedia, click on that and you will see if anyone
has edited any of those watched pages.
the darwinbots page is here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darwinbots (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darwinbots).
