Well, I let my veggy sim run overnight to test some of the new mutation routines.  There were only 30 alga minimalis, and they were getting food by kilobody, so they couldn't just reproduce madly to get any more energy.

I woke up and went to check on my sim.  Turns out at least one of the little buggers learned to shoot -1 shots.  Also managed to crash the program, which is good, because I'm determined to find any and all bugs.

He also is managing to gather energy from nothing, which is deeply disturbing.

What happens if the bots just make/get more body? Would they gain more nrg from the program?

I can't wait to play :D

Yes, storing body will get you more energy in this mode.

I also have another mode where you get increasingly more nrg as you store body.  I did it as an obvious way to limit cancer veggies as a legitimate evolutionary path.

Definately working on one phantom shot collision "free nrg" bug right now.  Although I'm not entirely sure that's what you mean.

So would it become a body points arms race between veggies? The nrg shots also give some body points, possibly the veggies are firing them because of this.

Definately becomes a race to gain body.  I'm thinking you can run some simulations where you wean veggies off of sunlight and force them to battle to the death.  I hear the ASPCA already!
