Why cant I download anything here form the forum?
It just says it can not find it...
-
No idea!
I don't think anyone has ever reported that problem before.
Could it be your internet explore security levels? or are you using a different browser?
-
I put a topic saying I couldnt download the system variables file. It says file not found etc, I am using IE 6 SP 2. I also get the same problem when I use Firefox.
-
Can you download robots from the beastiary?
-
I use IE 6, and I can not download anything from here, but everywhere else it works fine.
-
Can't download any files attached to topics at all. I can copy the text alright though lol.
-
There are no controls on this board that allow an admin to disable downloads for a specific member without reasigning them to a different user group. You are both classified as "member" and as such have full privaleges to upload or dowload files on all boards except those restricted to admin only.
The problem must be your end.
What security settings do you have in IE properties?
I have a similar problem on my PC at home. It downloads OK but won't display certain gif files. (Pretty much always those put up by Mighty Penguin. I still can't see his avatar at home)

In the words of somebody from the Invision board forum..
Try clearing your cache and cookies.
On IE: Tools -> Internet Options -> Clear History, Files, and Cache
It looks like it might be the cache settings on your own PCs

Still not working.... :(
-
Total lack of workage here too. Curse these message boards. :cuss:
-
I will ask the question to the invision administrators and see if they have any idea.
-
This response from the invision admin....
I removed the cookie information, posting that could enable people to take over the person's account.
Are they using a proxy or other non-standard things on their connection?
Any comments here that I can pass on?
-
I don't have a clue but things seem to be working now; I managed to download the readme file [Num] left on one of my posts. :D
-
yea, I got a comment:
YOU ARE SAYING THAT THERE WAS A WAY FOR A PERSON TO TAKE OVER MY ACCOUNT JUST BY POSTING SOMTHING?

UHHHHHH......
How about NO!
They would have had to decipher the information in a specific cookie, left on the server by one of your posts, to find your password.
Then they could log in as you and change it.
All your posts have to contain a cookie or the board wouldn't allow them to be registered as coming from your ID.
Apparently it used to be possible for other users to see this cookie. Now they can't.
