Title: Here is what is going on

I'm starting to program again!

I am working on tie physics right now so its best if we don't mess around in the same place too much.
I want to get MBs a whole lot more viable as the result of evolution by simplifying some of the commands for moving ties.

I'll be sticking to the environment grid and maybe junk DNA.chromosomes/etc. that I talked about a few months back,

Right on!

Also, don't forget all that work and talk that went into metabolism and enzyme systems!

Once the egrid is up and functional, that's definately next on the list.

The few months I've had away from the problem should help give me perspective in implementing it too.

I just started setting up mutating shapes  :D

Not really sure how much use it will be but it makes the sims look prettier.

Maybe shape will come into it later as a potential barrier to inter-species sexual reproduction.

How's that gonna link to reproduction, PY?  You mean that bots would have penises of different shapes and sizes?

 ;)

Not as such but if the bodies of two creatures are not compatible shapes then they can't mate.

A bit like some snails that I keep hearing about.
A genetic mutation resulted in some that had their shells coiled in the opposite direction than the originals. The new mutants were then unable to mate with the originals due to nothing more than geometry.
This is often cited as an example of evolutionary speciation in debates between evolutionists and creationists.

If circles and squares can't mate, then, of course, you'll need the liklihood of a mutation from circle to square to be fairly low (of course, that assumes you want to use sexual reproduction).

I like this idea for .sexrepro , some dna should be restricted to copy only from the mothers side or the fathers side and never mix. (Humens do that so I figured there must be some good in it) (Its kinda like junkdna for sexrepro)
