Title: Spore repro
Post by: havingphun on October 13, 2011, 05:17:31 PM
Sorry if this was already suggested but here it is. So how about having the option of bots reproducing with spores. you could specify the amount of spores and also have a variable called sporedef that would allow you have a specific code for the spore if you wanted to. I dont think this should be added because it is already possible to code spores with db, but i just wanted to throw the idea out there.

Can sexrepro be used between different species to create hybrids?

I'm not really sure how sexrepro works other than getting bots to do it, to be honest. I might look into the code for you at some point, though. Or Numsgil will know.

I'm pretty sure it runs some pretty sophisticated DNA shuffling.  So If the bots are entirely dissimilar, it usually ends up just picking one of the parents' DNA.  If the bots are somewhat similar, it matches up similar DNA markers and then shuffles the DNA a bit.  So it makes it possible for two mutations in different lineages to be shared.
