Title: Good stuff about 2.36
Post by: shvarz on April 01, 2005, 02:17:58 PM
So that it does not look like I am only complaining:

The best thing I've seen so far is the increase in speed.  On my home computer with "graphics" turned off, I get >2000 cyles/sec with ~50 bots.  That is AWESOME!

Second best thing is that all field sizes now work.  The possibility of running the sim at 96000x72000 is sweet :)  It is 100 times bigger than the size 1 screen! (we need to remove that limit on 2000 total bots.  Seriously)

THANK YOU!

The speed increase took a long time to finish, and there was at least one person who hinted that he didn't think it was worth the bother (it wasn't PY).

The 2000 robot limit isn't hard to get rid of on the surface.  The problem is that the fact that there are 2000 robots in the array is hard coded in at places, so I have to go through and manually find every instance of that sort of thing.

Yeah, I noticed at least one thing: when I try to "restrict population" at 2500 veggies, it does not work :)  It just crashes :)

It used to be 1000 robots. I increased it to 2000 about a year ago. Didn't think we were going to reach the present level of speed so quickly or I would have made it bigger back then.
