Has anyone who's tried out the buggy version of 3.0 that uses different eye codes noticed a speed increase?
You know you have that version if your old bots don't seem to turn or fire at the correct distances anymore. Or if you got your version from me in the last week or so.
I was running a simulation, and managed to get something like 200 cycles/sec at 100 bots with the display turned off. 'Wow' is about all I could say. Before I think I got around 30-50 cycles/sec.
I spent about a week to a week and a half working on speeding up the program. It's really smoking now, but I need to know if anyone else has noticed or if all I did was speed it up on my computer.

I would try it if I had it :)

Send me a email Schvarz, and I'll send it to you. I tried posting it to the forum, but it said I didn't have permision to post such a large attachement (which doesn't make sense, I gave myself a 5 meg limit. Oh well).

The 'Flickery mode' really speeds things up.
-
I couldn't either.
You could always put it up on the FTP server though.

The FTP server! Of course.
It's that kind of out of the box thinking...
-
The flicker mode on my computer doesn't even make a 1 cycle/sec difference.
I think it depends on your system. If you have a very good graphic card, the simulation itself is the bottleneck.
-
I don't have a specific graphics card at all here. Just the motherboard.
On this system it doubles the speed with 100 robots.
With 200 it gives about 25% extra speed.
With 500 the difference is barely noticable.
On my system at home (700 mhz + 256meg Radeon grahics card) it doesn't make too much difference really. Maybe 10% quicker for 100 bots but beyond that the processing slows it down rather than the graphics.

I got nothing more to say just: Great work Num
I have not tryed it yet (because of computer problems and because I am waiting for the unbuggy virsion) but from what people say sounds good
