How do you run leagues using DB?
It just crashes saying it couldn't find a certain league file when I try to run one
I might be inclined to run some
(but probably in 2.37.6 for now since combat bots don't work as well in 2.4X due to the physics changes, dynamic sizes and some remaining problems with ties)

Here's what you should be able to do:
The first bot in the species list in the options form needs to be Alga Minimalis I think.
Every other bot is then a "challenger" in the league. If you "re-run" the league then all bots in the league table (if it exists) are considered challengers.

Leagues are still busted in 2.4x. Maybe the next drop.

OK, I tried checking some boxes but it crashed
What should I do here?
What does 'challenge' mean? What about 'ladder', 'last man standing' and 'free-for-all elimination'?

The one's that were never implemented should be greyed out.
I had this idea of different sorts of leagues you could do. They never got implemented.
Click "run league on start", then click on a designation you want (F1, etc.) or type in your own.
The bots you have in your species list should battle it out in a ladder type elimination.
