Title: Wait around after finishing off a veg
Post by: Numsgil on April 23, 2006, 10:46:49 PM
It seems to me an optimal strategy is to wait like 10 cycles after killing a veg before moving to a new location.  Most bots I watch seem to move away and lose the last 10 returning nrg shots from the veg they were munching on.

You can still of course turn in place and feed on nearby veggies, but if you move on to the next spot too soon you're missing out on significant amounts of energy.

Will shots be visiable in 2.5 or 3.0?  My shot bots seem to miss a lot of them cause they arn't where they were when they fired.  Making shots visable begs a lot of questions I know about arbitrary object identification mechanisms, but I assume we need it someday.

I've talked about bots seeing shots on a few occasions, but there are has always been some concern with confusing shots with bots.

If we go that way we could always use a completely different set of sysvars than the regular eyes. Maybe a second set parallel to the first but only reporting shot positions.
