Title: Sysvar file.
Post by: TheSeer on December 27, 2005, 07:33:23 AM
I downloaded the installer and the patch that said "new users start here".
I don't have sysvars2.21.txt and none of the three download pages [2 of which are the same, and the third doesnt' work] list the file...

Also, not to sound like an ass but forcing registration on people might repel pointing something out like this. Maybe I missed something, but I went up and down that installation_guide multiple times and have gone through the download page multiple times and have yet to find sysvars2.21.txt

Hi Seer

Which version are you trying to install?
I have a feeling that I forgot to include sysvars2.21.txt in the zip file for the latest 2.37 version when I uploaded it. Sorry about that.

If you are installing the latest version of 2.4 (still somewhat experimental and not to everyone's taste) then that is Numsgil's area. I couldn't say whether that zip has the sysvars file or not. Either way they should both be more or less the same.

Here is the sysvars file. Just save it into your DarwinBots main directory and it should all work just fine.

There is a very good reason for making people register before posting.

In our old forum, we did not have any such restrictions and what happened was that spammers just used bots to constantly post crappy messages on the board. Some days I had to delete several hundred links to porno sites and other maliscious rubbish. In the end we had to abandon the board entirely and make a new one here with posting restrictions.

I might be persuaded to make a single forum on the board where non-members can post if a strong enough case is made but on the whole it has to be restricted to members only.

At least registering is a whole lot easier than some boards.

1: Thanks for the sysvar's file.

2: Yeah, it was a lot easier then I expected :)

Perhaps we should make the newbie forum editable by anyone, and see how it goes from there?
