Hi, just discovered this site, sim looks really nice, something similar to DB II

What do You think?

Suggestions / recording simulation
« on: September 26, 2010, 04:32:43 PM »
Can program be programed to record, for example, every 10th cycle of simulation as photo, or something like that? Idea is to group those photos later in continous movie so we can see patterns, behavior, etc.. more easily. It's difficult to observe on 0,1 cycle/sec  :(

Bot Tavern / how to use multicore processors
« on: February 28, 2010, 05:51:47 AM »
Ok, here is what I heard somewhere, tested it and it works. How to use multicore processors to speed up darwinbots. Don't know if it was written here, but maybe it's good to repeat

In my case, I have dual core AMD turion processor. I started two simulations simultaneously. Then open task manager. Find processes Darwin 2.44.04.exe (depending on the version You are using, right click and click "set affinity" then You can assing each sim to one core. If You have more cores you can start more sims. You can connect them with teleporters to form one big sim and so on...    Hope that this will help a little...

Suggestions / day and night vision...
« on: February 25, 2010, 11:40:26 AM »
Is it possible that during night period vision becames weaker? Like in real life, maybe we could develop new bot species that would "come out" only during the night. During daytime they would seek shelter from daytime species and vice versa...

Bot Tavern / DNA lenght
« on: February 24, 2010, 02:49:46 PM »
Does anyone know what is the smallest lengh oft DNA that allows complex bot behavior?
I inserted 30 zerobots in sim, each 30 zeroes in DNA. I was thinking since most of zerobot DNA is junk DNA, and it's slowing computer down, maybe evolving bots with shorter DNA may speed up thinghs? Who knows, maybe bots with smaller starting DNA will have less junk, and more "useful" DNA?
I would like to hear your opinions...
Further info about sim expect in simulation emporium.

Simulation Emporium / New zerobot simulation
« on: February 21, 2010, 05:38:19 PM »
Hi guys,
Don't know if anyone ever checked this, but are we sure that number of zeroes in zerobot DNA speeds up evolution?
To evaluate this, started new simulation with two types of zerobots.
1. type: zerobot with 910 zeroes in genome

2, type: zerobot with 3600 zeroes in genome

Both species are marked as veggies.

Bets anyone?

I'll keep you posted...

Started new zerbot simulation with "voluntary movement" cost set to 1 and "bang efficiency" set to 10% from the start.
The goal is to see new movement methods develop, using ties etc... So far 1,5M cycles, nothing interesting is happening...

Newbie / First post and questions
« on: October 21, 2009, 03:17:41 PM »
Hi,
I write from Croatia, what an excelent program You made!!!!
Can You help me? Want to create amoeba-like multicelular movement, but first need to disable one-cell movement. Is there any options in version 2.43 to disable this? Thank You
Also want to help in DB3, but I am a doctor and not a programer. If You need help with genes, biology, metabolism, or something like that I'll be happy to help
