DNA - General / Question on viruses
« on: January 17, 2008, 09:13:58 AM »
Hello to everyone, I'm back again. My internet connession was broken for like a month, so I couldn't connect. Btw, I started interesting in viruses (or virii?). But I've not understood much from the tutorial, so here I am to ask more infos on viruses. I've also seen a simulation where non-letal virus evolved and pushed the evolutionary rate of bots... I'd like to know more on dna copying, vtimer and all those things, if you have a bit of free time (I think that the topic here upstairs is too old, because it's from 2005... I don't know if it's still right). Thank you.

Evolution and Internet Sharing Sims / How to avoid cannibotism?
« on: November 18, 2007, 08:40:06 AM »
Is there any way for you to avoid cannibotism in long-term evo sims? I mean, there should be a way (settings, different amount of predators, I don't know) to avoid the fact that cannibots are advantaged, because conspecs can't answer their fire. Is there for you to make evolution improve collaboration (or at least not killing) between conspecs?

Mutations / Nanobots - evolved from swarm
« on: October 23, 2007, 12:51:12 PM »
Hi. This one evolved from SWARM in a very hostile environment, where are only shooting algae. It has a simply behavior: it moves, ties to everything, drains all energy, helps his frieds and eats others. It has pratically no body and energy, and a very short lifespan. But it is very strong. I tried many bots against it, but nobody defeated it (I think it is only beacause it is so small that 99% of the times they miss him. But here is the dna:

Newbie / New 2 the forum
« on: October 20, 2007, 09:00:15 AM »
Hi everyone I'm new to the forum but not to the program! It's like 2 months I've been in darwinbots, and finally I'm starting understanding something   . Sorry for my english but I'm italian; I wanted to say my praises to the darwinbot's programmers: you did a great job! The program offers unlimited possibilities! I've seen that the forum is almost dead, so I said "better to register", because a so great program can't be forgot.
Now I wanted to talk you about an evolution: I had some swarm bots (last version) and I put them with other species in a tank with alga runaways and minimalis as food, ad w\o corpses nor waste. It had normal costs, only a 0.01 more cumulative cost for the age and 3 for the shoot (to avoid ever-shooters) and 32x mutations (lol). Of course, only the swarms survived, and the runaways. But great was my wonder when I saw an alga developing a shooting tecnique (first enc). After a little, all the algae was so, and later like the second enc. So the swarm evolved: it started forming ties!!! And of course it survived, but the ties seems to do nothing. It's strange. Try to help me, like I said I'm a newbie. Sadly, after a pair of hours, the algae evolved in a too-fast rotating specie, and the echosistem died . Please take a look at my swarm tie!
