Bug reports / Overflow error in longrunning internet simulation OPEN

Hi,

I ran an internet sim overnight. When I came back this morning I saw it overflowed somewhere in the night. I'm posting the sim file here. I hope the bug causing this can be found in such a large file with a longrunning sim.

Hi,

When my DB is in internetmode and I set the update interval of my teleporter to 50000, I get an runtime error 6 overflow.

I tried some other values, and it starts overflowing at > 32800.

Bug reports / Annoying graphs when changing windows RESOLVED 2.43s

Hello,

When I have open graphs or robot data windows in DB and switch to another window (any window besides DB), the graphs/robot data persist and float over the newly selected window. When I try to click them I jump back to the DB screen.

I would very much like the graph windows to stay where they belong, in the DB window!

Before switching:

Suggestions / An 'infertility' option

Hi,

In addition to the 'fixed in place'  'vegetable' 'disable vision' etc option, could we have a 'disable reproduction' option? It could be used to prevent 'cleaner bots' from reproducing for example.

What do you think?

Bugs and fixes / Not receiving body when fireing -6 into corpse

The bots in attached sim attack non-corpses with -1:

and corpses with -6:

However, they do not seem to get any body from corpses after hitting them with -6 shots. Another feature or is this one really a bug?

note; waste really messes these bots up as they don't get rid of it (their eyes' directions are altered), effectively preventing them from living:P

Newbie / trouble starting a sim after reinstall

Hi,

I tried to install DB on my new laptop, but when I try to start a new simulation I get this:


This prevents me from starting a new sim, as I keep on getting 'error, division by zero'  errors, probably due to wrong settings or the abcense of some...

I think it would be a good idea to include a default settings file with DB installs so that new users can get a simlulation up and running

Short Bots league / SB Update

There were two new bots in this update:
  • Vector 1.0 by abyaly
  • Absolutezero by Viplex
Vector 1.0 did rather well and made it upto 9th place. Abolutezero however fared not so well and did not get into the top 25 bots. Maybe with some improvements it will, because it looks promising

Bugs and fixes / Runtime error '340' while running leagues

While running the SB league the program chrashed, giving me a runtime 340 error (see screenshot)

some additional information:
- It was at the start of a round between Vector 1 and Asterus_Igni.
- attached are the bot DNA files of the competing bots.

I'm affraid this is all the information I can give. After I clicked 'ok' on the error popup, DB shut down. Because it only happened after a long time using the 'league-tool' I suspect it's a rare bug. But a bug nevertheless

Off Topic / Darwinbots 1.0

This is the original Darwinbots, as created by Carlo several years ago. It's completely in italian (except for the word 'walls' it seems), and all bots are squares instead of circles (yet they behave like circles physics-wise).
Quite fun to watch, really. and then there's a bot called 'TheAncestor' , the first true bot ever, I presume. (I reckon it's called C_ancetralis nowadays)

It's good to see the progress that has been made by the programmers since this first version
