Title: DB Video
Post by: Endy on March 18, 2007, 07:18:26 PM
Found a very nice (and free) screen recorder. Been using it to capture some of DB's best moments. Just uploaded a couple to YouTube.

Eco Colapse

TierX

Pretty cool to see, you can download the recorder here:

Color's not a great as I'd hoped it would be... Gonna have to make sure to use brighter bots in the future.

First vid seemed to have been removed, see what you mean about the colours.

Nah, it just took awhile to upload. Colors still come out fuzzy, (yes, the background is supposed to be black) but otherwise it works pretty well.

Those veggies were really fighting for their lives there. Looks like you were using the Herbivore bot.

By the way, when I was over at the YouTube site I saw this one:

Looks like someone has made a 3D-version of DB!   Did you guys now about that? There was no link to the program.

Neat, though I think the videos would work better if the speed was something like 2x what it is.  Is there a way to do that?

Eco Colapse consists of TheOne and Alga99. Both of which are especially good evolvers(obviously TheOne was a bit slow this time  ).

Makes for some impressive evolution, the traits are also noticeable enough that anyone can see them.

Come to think of it, I don't believe I've ever posted the dna for the plant anywhere... So here it is below.

'Alga99 super evolver
cond
start
99 .mrepro store
314 rnd *.aim add .setaim store
0 .fixpos *.fixed mult store
999 rnd 999 rnd store
999 rnd 999 rnd store
999 rnd 999 rnd store
999 rnd 999 rnd store
999 rnd 999 rnd store
999 rnd 999 rnd store
stop
end

I don't really recommend using it in general though. I've yet to have a hetrotroph able to survive against it for long periods.

Yeah, a faster playback setting would be better, right now I've been having to record in realtime, making the recording of anything longer than a few minutes excessive.

Should be easy, if you have the right programs. For example, Windows movie maker.

Hey Endy,
I agree with one of the commenters of the video: I don't exactly understand how veggies escaped the predators. Did predators have some kind of food-recognition system built-in? Or veggies evolved to feed through ties?

For another option for screen recording, TechSmith released an older version of Camtasia Studio for the unbeatable price of free a while ago. It works very well, never expires and you can upgrade to the newest version if you have the need.

Download it Here. (http://download.techsmith.com/camtasiastudio/enu/312/camtasiaf.exe)

Get a key to register it Here. (http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia/pcpls.asp)

Not sure. The predator is "The One" and it does have a recognition system, so that is a possibility.

That's the main reason I use bots with a changing memloc/memval epigenetic recognition system, the veggies have a devil of a time fooling it.
