I could indeed find a lot of other solutions to get the tutorial on my non-internet pc at home.  But not everybody who has db is prepared to go and search for everything.  for them it is easy if when they download the install-patch they can also get the new tutorial with only one extra mouseclick.

apart from that great work done here

it isn't compiled for 100%

it is more like java, but the vm is integrated in windows (maybe because it is from the same firm).

2 things:

1.  Speed
2.  Pointers

VB is slow and lacks pointers.  With speed, well, that's fairly obvious.  The faster the better.

With pointers, I can construct abstract classes, that makes having two programmers working on different sections of code easier.
because vb is bad

in vb your programs are run trough an interpretor, so you lose a lot performance.  In c++ your program is completly compiled so it runs directly on your os, api's and hardware without any translations from an interpretor.

and most important, I learned c++.  I could understand most of the vb-code, but became demotivated by all the little things I didn't understand directly.

(sorry for any spelling-mistakes)

it is completly artificial, and should be changed in the future.

but at the moment I think there are just too many other things that are more important than this one.

swap: new partition and fat32

why fat32?  it is faster.  ntfs has some extra security, everytime you read or write it has to check if you have permission to do so.  fat32: no securtiy, no important computertime lost!  (note: only do this for the swap-partition.  the benifits of ntfs can be really important for other partitions.  cluster-size would be one of the most important ones).

what are the settings for acpi in your bios?

probably your bios is reset by changing the battery so you have to reconfigure it.

I just got Rome: Total War, so to say I am distracted is something of an understatement.

So I guess maybe another 2 weeks and I'll have the DB code put together well enough to release.  Maybe sooner.
great game

spend many nights playing it

Suggestions / Fatigue
« on: June 14, 2005, 10:46:51 AM »
I suggest we would change the effects of waste.  if it makes movement and other simular thing more energy-expensive, we would have the same effect of fatigue, but without getting too artificial.
