Newbie / A Problem
« on: September 20, 2007, 02:47:30 AM »
I have a recurring problem. Apparently regardless of what settings I use I will suddenly get recurring explosions of tiny little bots in great numbers. They slow up the sim and don't do anything interesting. Is there anything I can do to avoid this.
   Thanks

I have querried this before. No matter what I do I always eventually end up with little tiny bots that almost look like just little white dots with a faint rim of color. Would someone send me a set of settings where this won't happen.

Also in the newest version occasionally a bot drags around a red or blue blob. What is that?
   Thanks

I have been troubled by a phenomenon I can not fix and perhaps someone has an idea. Shortly into all my runs the bots devolve into tiny little bots that, without magnification look more like little white dots with a touch of color. Any ideas?
 Thanks

I have had a recurring problem. When I begin a run things go fine but over time the creatures devolve into tiny entities that flood the system with over population slowing everything down. Please advise.

I have been using 24A and I have a problem. Runs quickly breed MANY little low energy creatures that slow down the program badly, and do nothing interesting. I have tried reducing the amount of energy in the universe but no luck. Please advise.

So...everything is running great. Nevertheless, I have encountered something weird.  I have a nice long run going but a species has evolved that does not change. The number of mutations remains at 11 with a DNA length of 140 and nothing new evolves despite the fact that I have made the mutation parameters pretty liberal.  Please advise.
     Thanks

What I meant was that the bots perceive their world and make decisions based on input. I remember learning that they do not have neural networks. That being the case what structure is used for allowing them to make "decisions?"
     Thanks

Would you please explain how the Darwinbot brains work. I'm not computer technical so could you explain it in lay terms?
     Thanks,
         Wayne
P.S. This is a great program

Thank you. That solved the problem.
Next question if I may: How do I access more detailed bot information like the number of neurons present in each bot, etc?

Darwin Bots 24 runs great on my computer. Unfortunately I rapidly find myself with so many bots the program barely moves. Please advise

Okay, good news and bad news...I browsed as instructed and the problem is resolved BUT now I get a message saying can't find settings file. Please advise again. Thanks

Okay...I downloaded 2.4 and opened it. When I try to start a new simulation I get a message saying " cannot locate the variables file (sysvars2.21.txt). Please advise.
     Thanks

Recently you mentioned that 2.4 would be ready on Oct 1. I looked on the download page, but its not there. Could you please direct me to where I can find it?

Any sign of the new rewritten version yet? If so where can it be gotten?
     Thank you,
