Title: How do I add my ftp into DB?
Post by: Mikael Hellqvist on March 03, 2008, 05:51:04 PM
Can I change the ftp server for Internet mode?
All fields is grayed out except user name.

I was planning to have multiple of my own systems to share information to "speed up" and diverse my own simulation. And I don't want my "own universe" to be infected with the bots of others.

I was planning to have multiple systems have their own zero bot evolution. And let then exchange data with one another.

Ad hoc internet mode is disabled in current builds, but you can use inter-sim teleporters to do this.    They just use file sharing via redirected drives (SMB) instead of FTP but if you have multiple machines on the same LAN, they work great for what you want.  What you want to do is exactly what they were designed for.

My machines is located everywhere, thus LAN is not a viable alternative. And it would be nice to just start a machine wherever I am and enter it into the "swarm" Whenever I want to.

Well then your kind of SOL for a little while until I get ad-hoc FTP working and/or add the ability for ad-hoc teleporters to use FTP.

I'll bump these up in priority.

Or a router...

FTP paths might work in normal teleporters.  I've never tried it.  Not sure if windows will handle the file I/O redirection properly but it might be worth trying...
