I have the opposite problem, I have to keep my paths narrow, mine tend to become long and winding.

I think with a bit more exposure Darwinbots 2 could become more popular, but it might take a wiki overhaul to make everything shiny and inviting to do it.

MIT is very ambitious, but damn would it be fun, or at least interesting.

I find it's all driven by need, I'm only as creative as I need to be.

As to the 11 year issue, I'm sure in 11 years you've learned a lot, which can be re-applied to other things you may get involved in.

I'm online right now. Have been fiddling with linux for a few days, it was hell.

So I'm back on XP and running some IM mode.

Are you newbie? Don't forget to check your internet options everybody!

Well CCC is just an example. They just formed as a computer club. A group of like-minded people meeting to share info, and allowing newcomers in to learn from their peers.

They've got a page on their Club Hierarchy here http://www.ccc.de/en/regional

You can see it's made up of semi-guided cells, regional clubs, with larger clubs in the larger cities, all trying to work together.

I just can't find things like that in this area. I think the only parallel to the CCC is a few small clubs in the highschools and universities, more for students than open-ended like the CCC.

This is also similar to what happened in California and Seattle in the USA in the 60s,70s,80s. You had a tech culture with meeting points.

I just seem to be in an isolated area, people here prefer not to deal with clubs, at least not those kind of clubs ;)

But hey, I guess that's what forums are for, fills the niche, and they have a less crypto-revolutionary overtone.

Same where i am.

I was looking for some sort of equivalent around here to the German Chaos Computer Club, it just doesn't exist.

Consumption culture over production culture I guess.

Well in Florida you won't have as much of the social drinking pressure :)

Shame though you've got nobody to hang out with. It's Florida though so it's probably for the best :P

I would not not take an illegal drug.

Methamphetamine and Heroin are in a league all of their own though when it comes to addiction. They're the truly addictive drugs, the only competitors I can think of, would be Nicotine, and maybe Caffeine.

That's too bad about the drinking thing Botsareus, aren't you in Russia as well?

Linux is a good OS, but too much fun to get up and running. It is not stupid proof. I do not even want to touch it. Not yet anyway. I have a copy I can get free WiFi with, but am afraid to touch it.

Oh I don't blame you, this is like one of the few times I've had the urge to install it again. This laptop is crap, so with Linux it runs a bit smoother.

Plus I had Backtrack on a USB stick to get me some internet on the roam, and now they have Kali Linux that you can install, which unlike Backtrack has a lot more support, and is basically just Debian pre-packaged with 300 "security tools".

http://www.kali.org/

Last time I used Linux it was nice, but not this nice, so it has sort of lured me in with its siren song.

Plus I hit my cap, so there's that :D

You'd actually like it Botsareus, it's probably the next most secure system after Tails. Comes pre-packaged with Truecrypt as well, would solve all your hacker worries because you'd have all the tools to check if you're being hacked right at your fingertips. Linux now is at it's friendliest point ever as well.

That said I'm terrible with Linux and can't use any of the tools very well. Even getting the damn thing to dual-boot last night was a nightmare. Had to reinstall GRUB, and get it to work with XP. If I had windows 7 a program can do it in 2 clicks, but no, I had windows XP, so I get eternal hell instead.

So I'm reading over the wine installation procedure, and scanning the forum right now for anyone who has had problems/solutions before I dive in.

http://wiki.darwinbots.com/w/Main_FTP#Installing_DarwinBots_under_Linux

That looks more than sufficient though to do it through wine, which is fun.

Well I can always reboot into XP if I get frustrated.

Aren't you using XP Botsareus? I think i saw it in one of your screenshots recently.

Are you talking about "Heroin and Weed"? Around here dope=marijuana, and weed=marijuana, so I'm assuming you're talking about the newer one which is dope=heroin.

Sounds like some Trainspotting

Lots of updates are better than none IMO.

You get a nice sense of the flow.

Plus lots has been added lately, and fixed. Botsareus seems a little stressed ;)

Haven't had it up today myself. Have been trying to get linux working, then I'm going to try Darwinbots 2 on linux, just for the hell of it. Hoping to get slightly increased performance for IM.

Hehe, I thought when people talk about the 'system' of something they refer to something more dynamic and complex.

Are you saying the eye system isn't dynamic and complex? Or you'd prefer dynamic and complex sound?

Why not instead of shots, use something that works like the eye system?

The eye system would be a good example. I just used shots as an example because shots already have types. So this would be like sound types.

Code: [Select]
-1 shots are for hunting.
-2 shots, Energy for feeding.
-3 shots, Venom (Robot is immune to Venom from his own species).
-4 shots, Waste.
-5 shots, Poison in response to an incoming "-1 .shot". (Robot is immune to poison from his own species).
-6 shots, Body.
-7 shots, You cannot shoot viruses, but the .shflav of a virus is -7
-8 shots, Sperm
