I don't know if anyone has already bought this up, but maybe Darwinbots 3 could have sound and smell sensors. Sound and smell can be very helpful in evolution.

Maybe not sound but I plan on having bots be able to detect the concentration and possibly the gradient of various things in the environment, which is sort of like smell. The exact details are still in flux; I have to experiment and see how fluid like I can make the environment without paying too much CPU.

I like that idea.

Also, let me point out that we already have a primitive version of smell in DB2. A robot can ruffly figure out what direction a particle hit it from. Maybe this can be expended to angles and more information about last particle that hit it become available.
