you know what would be good, if someone put all the new bots in a zip file so that people could download them in one easy go.
A great idea. It would make it alot nicer for newbs. I don't have (and have not seen available for download) about half of the robots on the F1 challenge league, so for me it would be great.

Cool. Should add a nice new dimension to DBs.

5.  Bots now allowed up to 10 ties.
I forsee many program crashes in the future. Just think of a bot mutating the ability to reproduce quickly and eventually being tied to ten other bots that are tied to nine other bots, etc.   . And also, I have seen that when bots go from one side of the screen to the other when the screen runs out (toroidial) and they have a whole bunch of ties, the tie will sometimes stretch all the way in the opposite direction instead of going through and out the other side. When it happened, it frequently crashed the program for me when in large numbers of ties (I'm not sure if it's been fixed in the new versions). But if it works, I don't see anything wrong with it. All the other improvements are great.

One point is that camoflage only works when you don't move so it is used either as a wait and pounce stategy or simply to hide from predators.
Oh, I see your point. I didn't see it that way. I was thinking invisibility cloak, and that means high tech stuff. I guess that does work with biology. Stupid me.

Camoflage? I'm guessing you mean blending in with the background. Hopefully you don't mean invisibility, because that would detract from the biology part of it. I guess it would be a great combat strategy, but it's just not natural. If you mean blending in w/ the background, it would require DB to have a background color the robots could determine and defining colors the Dbots would have and see.

Oh, I see. I thought that maybe you had taken it from Kurama's flashback on one of the movies and turned the hair purple.

I will get it up ASAP.
Ok, thanks alot.

Oh, and it had been bugging me, but I finally found out who it is in your avatar, PY. I thought it was someone on Inuyasha at first.

I've tried a few things (bitozoa and a DOS AL sim that sucked). I tried Tierra, but it won't work with my Windows XP. As for cellular automata, I was really into that before DB. I Used MCell, which contained a load of cellular automata and CA rules. I even made alot of things for the star-wars rule which I kept to myself.  It's still fun to use now and then. I stopped looking for Alife sims after I found DB :) .

I just found a free program made by Microsoft called Excel Viewer. I can see the buttons but they don't work... I'll wait for your version if you can eventually put it on the server. If you cant, its ok.

Oh, awesome, thanks for the info. I have no need to save the sim now that I can use the snapshot feature. That helps alot; and works too :) . Now I'm gonna search the net and see if I can find a freeware variant of excel, cause I don't have it and can't pay for it.

Besides, you don't need to know how DNA works to run evolution sims   :D
Yep, that's exactly what I've been doing. Just sitting back and letting the robots evolve for me instead of actually programming them :D .

Oh, and I've downloaded most of the bots already, Endy. Hardly any of them worked until I found the link to the newer version of DB and upgraded.

And PY, I'd like to get into the combat bot stuff. Then possibly try to evolve them.

And also, when I save a simulation and try to load it later, it won't load. For me, It's a big problem with evolving the bots; they like to be more genetically diverse the longer into the sim, and I'd have to save all of them individually. I have the latest version that was on the FTP server. Oh, and it won't save the sim or the best robot periodically. I guess it's just my computer.

Hi. I've been using Darwinbots for a few weeks now, and recently joined the forums. The DNA is (or seems) really complicated and I am going through the tutorials to try to understand it. I just found Purpleyouko's great tutorial on the xwiki and that will probably help me alot. Just a matter of time before I start making bots (hopefully). Darwinbots is alot better than the evolution sims I've tried before.
