Title: Can't upload files
Post by: shvarz on July 09, 2008, 02:12:11 PM
Just like the title says - I can't upload any files to the board. It gets stuck at "uploading" and never finishes. I tried both Firefox and IE - nothing works.

Let me test if I can...[attachment=963:NoArtifact.PNG]

Seems I can.  Could be something weird with the Member group permissions though.  But if you're not getting an error message, I don't think that's the case...

How big is the file?  What sort of file type is it?

The file is about 10 Mb, it's in zip format.

I just tried uploading a smaller file and it worked, so I guess it's a size limit.

Let me check if there's any sort of file size limit.

Try it now.  There wasn't a file size limit, but there was a limit on the total space that members could take up for uploads.  It was set to 200MB, which is pretty close to what we're at, so that's my guess.  I upped it to 1 Gig.

Nope, did not help. Still gets stuck at "Uploading file".

Duh, it says "Max.single file 8Mb"!  Did you just add it now?  What should I do with the 10Mb file?  I'd like to report a bug, but my sim (even compressed) is above the limit. If people used RAR, then I could split it into two archives, but the regular Windows zip archivator does not do that.

I'll check again, hold on...

Okay, found it.  It's a setting I have to change in an ini file on the server.  I'll try to get around to it during lunch.  If not, bug me again.

Arg, I don't think this can be changed.  We're not running a dedicated host, so I don't have access to the file I would need to change to up the limit.

You'll have to use a file splitter.  Something like this (http://www.filesplitter.org/) (I haven't used it, so don't take it as an endorsement.  It was just the first google hit for "file splitter").
