Ok strange one for you. Not sure if this is even the right forum but what the heck.

I recently installed a badly written VB program. It seems to have done something horrible to my system like overwritten a bunch of VB files somewhere as whenever I run DB this other program runs as well. I deleted the offending program and now it runs an installer for it as it cant find the required files to run it. I expunged all traces of it from my system and it still does it.

So whats the deal, any ideas? What files is it likely to have overwritten? And where can I get them.

Nope its not you. Its something to do with the shot collisions. If you check the veggies ? .shflav in the console you will see its -2 when its supposed to be -1, as its collecting its own -2 shots somehow. I believe this is fixed and we are waiting on nums for the next release.

And personally I think the lightspeed cage resolution to Fermi is the most satisfying. All species that dont grow exponentialy and are really agressive tend to stay at home. Those that absorb and grow as quickly as they can end up expanding there colonies at lightspeed. Eventually the inner colonies are exausted of resources and since the outer planets are being colonised at lightspeed already they cant expand fast enough to support the inner colonies. Result: Ecocollapse.

It will be a separate partition, so fragmentation does not come into play at all.  That's the whole reason to put it on a separate partition.
Bleh, minor niggle. Actually it will, but it will affect your other partitions. After all its still the same physical drive so if you have it in the middle or something silly your system partition will be cut in half. Call me pedantic.

I dont think theres any real difference in speed between different areas of the HD. That said I would place it at the beginning, that way you wont get as much fragmentation which will increase access time for other applications a bit.

Also, my knowledge of HDs might be way out of date here, maybe someone can correct me. But dont HDs slow down if they are on the same IDE chain as CD/DVD drives? Might want to take that into consideration and put your HDs together and other drives on the other chain. Although EIDE may have sorted that. I feel old :(

Put your swap partition on the fastest drive, its going to get used more than most stuff.

As for the duel windows thingy, I dunno. You could try the hilarious method of renaming the windows directory to see if it goes insane or not. If it complains just rename it back to original. If it doesnt go mad then just delete it. Although Im sure theres some method to unset it as a system drive, I just dont know how.

That sounds suspiciously like some sort of hardware failure. Could try a format to se if it helps, theres a small chance its just Windows decided to spray random files over your Hard drive. Do you have an original 2K CD?

Check Event Viewer in Start>Settings>Control Panels> Administrative Tools>Event Viewer. See if theres anything obviously bad in the system tab, like millions of errors.

If not its likely your mobo or memory. Gunna have to fork out £100 for new hardware. Hey cheer up! Buying new computer stuff is fun!

Ive seen several of the older bots split there waste removal genes in half so they constantly *.waste .shootval store. Which is wierd cus as bots get older and build up waste their shots get more powerful.

Curious, I nearly always get the same condition change that you get on repro genes. Changing > to !%= gives an automatic boost of several thousand energy, though presumably requires two seperate mutations, a duplicate and a straight up change > to !%=. Why that would be more benificial I dunno.

Oh yeah and the mutations are in seriously need of an overhaul. I get crashes if I open the mutation graphs. Bots always reports 0 mutations. The bot info panel reports mutations that havnt occured, mutations that are different from actual changes or mutations that make no sense (I get inserted instruction ,,, a lot). Gene syntax gets changed which is obviously bad. The mutation toggle button seems to turn on and off randomly. And the strangest of all, my sims seem to stop mutating after a while, dunno why or even if its just luck, but ive run sims for millions of cycles and ended up with the exact same bot, could be me, anyone else noticed this?

Saving the DNA from within the program leaves the text file as a almost unreadable list of numbers and sysvars. But if you open the bots DNA in the info window and copy it out its much better.

Other than that, try and memorise the basic sysvar numbers (7 is shoot etc) so you can work out some of the intergene stack fun.

Num, have you considered tidying up the sysvars? I know your concerened about backwards compatibility but most reeeeally old bots dont work in the latest versions anyway, and it seems like the next version is going to be a big upgrade anyway so it might be worth it doing it now.

Besides theres loads of fairly useless or duplicated sysvars. Pain and pleas are essentially the same, same with bodloss/gain. Depth and Ypos are the same. Vel and velup. Plus all the millions of tie commands that only semi work.
