2.37.4 keeps sayings type mismatch and quitting when I fuss in start new menu. Last time I was clicking a Cancel to the mutatuion rates window when this occured. (It was the Alga Minimalis'. Previously I had set all to 1 with that set all to 1 button.)

This is an ol' bug, 'twas 'lready being before Numsgil's corrections.

My bots always develop constant shoot, and most of the time cannism. Constant rotation, kinda "looking around" is also common. There are robs in all the sims mutating their repro gene, so that they stop fussing with children. These bots usually get "too" old, thus increasing avg age and decreasing variability. To prevent this I placed a suicide gene in my bots DNA.

I wasnt talking of removing the junk form DNA. Think of the project TIERRA - where a new program evolved wholly capable of everything the original, manually typed program was, but this new one was 3 times shorter than the original code... the interesting in it is that that the programmer (Tom Ray) had done his best making the code as short as possible... so probably there was nothing to remove from the original code.
Anyway, I wont start a project like that on my medieval PC  :blueblob:
since mine would really crash soon

If you had an ultra fast PC and much time, selection should do this "shortening" for you. Like in TIERRA. Under DB circumstances maybe you have to use higher energy loss at DNA execution in order to make this happen (and to leave your PC to his work for some days).

I was playing much with another art. evol. prg, where bots were made out of stiff sticks. But it was too specific, and one couldnt see into robbies' codes...  :blueblob:

What bout competing in DNA lenght? The shorter DNA the better. Here is my first competitor with 3 genes. Try it, it is fighting like a cock, really funny... :lol:

With or without save the program is awesome, and I spend a good deal of time  with my bots, since last week when I found it.

ps: One more thing, maybe you know bout that, there r some bug in DNA autosave also. It doesnt save anything either. (2.36)

Doesnt do anything.

( because 2.37.x  always overflows)
