hmm... Do not see how it is better for a normal hard drive. If anything it needs to be defragmented. That gets slower as the hard drive gets bigger.

Good to know Peter. I was also looking at getting a new proper desktop as my current is still broken.
As far as SSD, (as much as I understand how they work) you will actually benefit from buying an SSD with more space even if you do not need the space because of how data writes to an SSD. Though I may be wrong on this.

One nifty thing I am also planning is having human controlled playerbot armies battle each other over IM.

I am also mostly running evo simulations and scoping out my DBII port. It is going to be one heck of a port + remaster some stuff.

Well... It might be sooner then that as the forum is working again. Lets see if Numsgil likes my wiki plans.

I am not totally against the idea of robots with more surface area get hit with more point mutations. However it is very difficult to figure out the most efficient robot on the screen if we have point mutations in the first place. One way of doing it though is instead of counting 1 for each kid you count a % of how similar the DNA is to the target robot. What I like about Numsgils idea is the simplicity.

I hope you figure it out Testlund. Never had my hands on a SSD drive so do not know much about them. I am also trying to avoid posting here while the wiki and half the forum is broken. I think my presence here is what attracting people to break the forums and the wiki so generally trying to stay away until they burn themselfs out and then stuff gets fixed. God says stuff like that takes about 21 years though. :P

I do plan on setting up IM with my university and get vegy ecosystems actually evolving. However the code for that will not be open source, I am also thinking about getting rid of vb6 for a more powerful language that will hopefully be better at describing errors. Also plan to setup automatic leagues. Settings and DNA should be backwards compatible with DB2. Probably host the installer downloads and automatic updater from university website as well. Do prefer to keep the forum and the wiki here and hope Numsgil and Shasta are ok with it.

I just got tired of the trolling and the possibility that people can screw with normal internet mode behavior because the project is currently open source. As explained before I also had personal stuff going on too. I think I pissed Peter off and do not know if he is willing to get IM working and there seems to be little interest in it right now. I would like to see IM working though...

If I get to do my own IM I will make sure to discourage hacking as much as possible starting with the fact that it will not be open source. I am also planning 3 separate IM modes and 4 automatic league types.

Anyway, I am happy with the way everything works and going mia for a while. Be back later to run some leagues.

RANT / Why was Spike so annoying?

He totally reminded me of my mothers ex boyfriend. Especially with his constant use of "mhm" and location "Earf" he was making fun of my mother I felt. She uses mhm and can not say earth properly. Also with the Russian babes thing, it did make me move out.

Also this thought me a life lesson:

No matter what you think you know about an anonymous person, you must judge him based on how he presents himself to others.

Darwinbots3 / Big berthas in DB3?

If we just let robots get massive and slowly ingest everything smaller we will have an evolutionary dead end. Alex from 'evolution' apparently had this exact problem in his early versions.
