Also I think an fast object does not get wider, it shortens (distance is reduced)

nothing gets shorter ...
or more massive ...
or slower ...
within ones own intertial frame of reference. ever.
these things only 'appear' to be altered from 'other' inertial frames of reference ...
and why one has to employ the lsuch things as Lorentz transformations to understand
what takes place in another reference frame from within one's own frame of reference.
that's why it's called relativity my friend. ;)

here is a decent spiel on such things:

I am not understanding relativity theory completely, but I can say you DEFINITELY NOT understand it.

if you say so ...  :D

finally have 2.37 working ...
and attempting to figure out the F1 matches.

it runs ... but I have no way of selecting how long a round or match runs ...
am not able to input number of cycles or times for either.

is there a tutorial or info on how to set this up ...
how the rounds and matches are supposed to work?

I was able to save all the surviving robots into a .snp file ...
I can read it with notepad ... but it's a jumble of numbers.
is there, or will there be ... a reader of some sort that can
pick out or sort the survivors by lifespan, number of offspring ... etc ...
some way to select individuals to move on to another match/round?
seems to me this might be a way to 'evolve' bots ...
use a bit of mutation and select the mutated 'offspring' that survive
and run them off against one another to futher evolve more efficient
bots.

as I say ... it runs as a simulation ...
but I have no control over rounds or time of match.

any help will be appreciated.
thanks.

what would this accomplish as far as helping bots evolve?
iow ...what would be the advantages/disadvantages to
any particular organism? what difference is it going to
make as far as increasing the ability to survive?
or is it just some more math to play with? ;)

at any rate ...
no need to make it complicated ...
we only need to simulate/approximate some change ...
the 'actual' change due to the differences in the relative velocities
we are using here would be infinitesimal, eh?
it might be interesting to simply have a 'time' slowdown inversely
proportional [or whatever] to the velocity of the bot making it's
commands take longer to process/execute ...
from 'our' inertial frame of reference ...
as the observer of the entire sim universe.
I don't know that there would be any advantage in altering
the velocity or duration of the shots. ...
but who knows?
just don't know how/if it would contribute to the evolution
of the bots or the simulation ...
seems to me we already have way too many variables as is
to allow much control of the directing things take.

which brings up another point ...
how is the initial seed to begin the randomization selected?
where is the seed?  do we have control of it?
iow ... if we don't begin a simulation with the same seed ...
then any variations we might be experimenting with ...
tryng to determine what changes result in a particular outcome,
are bogus as each run will have a variable that we have no
control over. is there some way that we can select the seed
at the beginning of a simulation ... one we can repeat?

just wondering.

Well it ain't gonna be much use to anybody else.
It's on the banned list right now.
I see someone posted from that IP on the Wiki Main Talk page at 13:30, 12 Oct 2005 (MST) ...
stating that they hadn't blanked anything ...

I couldn't find any other contributions from that IP there.

DB radians use 200 * 2 * pi to represent a full circle.

well ... good to know ...
may save me some headscratching at some point ...
not much hair left to pull out ... ;)

is there a tutorial/manual somewhere that explains
what the various DB commands are and mean?

usually they are simple trolls looking for attention ...
sad, lame, lonely people who are best ignored ...
it's then no fun for them.

btw, what was the IP address?
if you don't mind. ;)
once Num gets the wiki back ...
he might be able to see if they match ...
or if other wiki spam came/comes from the same IP.
might then also check with other wiki admins which have been vandalized.

passed on the wiki problem to an admin I know who runs wikicities to see
if she has any suggestions but she's out of town this week ...
so we will see.

*.shang returns the angle that the shot hit you relative to the absolute angle you are facing. So if a shot hits you from directly behind, *.shang will return 628
???
why 628?
I have no idea why I question this other than my mind
equates 360 degrees with 2 radians, ie 6.28 ...
and 180 degrees (directly behind) with one ... ie 3.14
or is this 628 something completely different?

thanks ...

re: logos/t-shirts:

Maybe someone with graphic design skills (I hav a few)
should think up a killer graphic for some shirts.
I'd totally get one if they looked cool.

haven't had a chance yet ...
still trying to get up to date with all the posts here ...
but I intend to play around with some raytracing to
see what comes up.

got a few ideas for small animated logos, etc ...
and who knows what will come out as something suitable
for a t-shirt in the process.

should we start a new thread ...
one for logos ideas ...
get some examples and feedback?

if I have time to do a little demo of what is possible with PovRay
(a FREEWARE raytracer http://www.povray.org/ ... and one of the best, imho)
I will ... but time is gonna be scarce for the rest of the week.

we will see

I bet.
well ...
I'll just keep the default.set as simple as possible ...
and then hopefully be able to run the sim and save settings/simulations.

thanks for the pointers.
