Title: overflow
Post by: 2122 on April 10, 2005, 01:27:43 AM
When I start the sim it gives me an error saying:

runtime error: '6':
overflow

what should I do?

Which version are you running?

And did you run the installation package for 2.1 before upgrading to a later version? If not then you may be missing some active X stuff that the program needs to run.

I'm trying to run v 2.36.2
Do I have to get rid of v 2.35 to use it?
Yes I do have v 2.1 installed

The easiest way to know what's happening is to run the code through VB.

Do you have visual basic?

What settings are you using when you try to run the simulation?

Try 2.36.1.  See if it gives you the same trouble.

No, I don't have vb, I used to though.
I'm using the default settings for the sim.
I tried 2.36.1 and it works just fine
thanks

My tiebot is even better there, he got to 1560 total population.

2.36.2 has some weird bugs going on.  I'm going to go over it line by line sometime soon and figure out why.

In the mean time, 2.36.1 seems to be the most stable release.

I fixed a bunch of the bugs in 2.36.2 already Num.

I will send you the updated code tomorrow. Check the bug fix list at the top of this forum to see the ones I have covered.

It worked for a bit, but I let it run for a few more cycles, then it gave me the same error.

Unless you can be more specific I can't isolate the problem.  I've tried to fix as many runtime errors as possible, but I'm only human.

Let us know the exact sim settings that you are using. Even upload the settings file if you like.
We will attempt to simulate it directly from VB code and then fix it.
