Bot Tavern / Spider Bot

Was contemplating this the other day, making a bot that replicated the behaviour of a spider. IE: set up a web, hide in the corner of the web, wait for something to get caught in said web, kill and eat thing.

Now, obviously bots can't (at the moment *glances at DB3*) produce anything that changes the environment. By that I mean, a bot can't leave behind a trail of slime that other bots stick to. The only way to create a web then would be to create offspring that just tied to other bots that weren't the spiderbot.

Okay, so once that's done, you've got a sticky web. Now you need a way of detecting that something is stuck in the web. The way I was thinking of doing this is having the web cell's refpos be put into tout, so that anything reading tout would know what the cells where seeing. So spiderbot reads tout's, and webbot fills them with refpos and repeats any other touts for other web cells it happens to be connected to, so that the whole web knows when something has been seen.

Kay, so spiderbot knows where food is, food is trapped by ties with the web, then kicks in basic feeding/repro routines.

Penny for your thoughts?

yes, I like anime, kill me, BUT I am not obsessed, so worry not, I am no weeaboo of any variety. I will not append "desu" to the end of everything, and I will not call your bots KAH-WAH-EEE!!!! ever.

I don't mind anime actually, but I generally avoid it because theres ALOT of weird stuff out there.

Clicky

You know, Mr. peanut, you're right, whatever happened to my promise of never talking about anime? Well, The truth is what I meant was I want to put all my anime ramblings in one location, and I was thinking I would do that here instead of random topics, saying things like

"OMG your sim is so KAWAII DESU!!!!"

That's an exaggeration, but you know what I mean. So, I'm going to talk about anime here, or maybe start an anime thread in the rant section. That way, I'm happy cuz I get to talk about anime, and you're happy cuz you don't have to read it! It's a win-win situation!

I was SO gonna do tha to random peoplet! And you're saying maybe I shouldn't? oh man!

Also, yes I do love advertisements, especially if they're on huge TVs in the middle of the city. I just love seeing technology everywhere, I can't stand rural places.

Plus, have you seen their bathrooms? They're INCREDIBLE! They come with video games if you're bored, and built-in air fresheners, and computers for surfing the internet! I feel like going to japan just to use their bathrooms. Yet another way that technology can become part of our lives.

OK, maybe I explained myself wrong...

I'm NOT going to run around screaming, BUT lots of kids do this only in japan, which is why no-one there likes americans. So I'm thinking they'll instantly associate me (17yo Caucasian) with those kids... Understandably, since the last 50 americans were running around screaming.

So that's the problem I mean...

This better explains it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88fvKD6qJCY...feature=related

Note the "Japanese Only" signs.

eheh... SLIGHTLY creepy?

I gotta be honest, I'm thinking I'd like to go to japan, simply because of the vast cityscape (I love big cities)... If the largest city was in antarctica, I'd want to go there instead. The problem is, I hear they HATE foreigners, especially 17yo americans, who have been known to  run around screaming "KA-WAH-EEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!" at the top of their lungs. I'm not one of those (pardon my name).

Anyway, have any of you guys been to japan? Is it as creepy as it sounds? Does it really have a vast cityscape? Are they really as evil toward foreigners as they sound?

Should I go? I swear it has nothing to do with my like-age of anime, really. I just LOVE the city is all, and high-tech stuff. And seafood. And the ocean. I was thinking my second-place destination might be new york or los angeles, but neither of those have giant TVs displaying huge advertisements on top of 30-story-high glass-and-metal monoliths. They just have... smog. And trees. I hate trees.

@moonfisher- you'd be surprised what can appear in manga... I'm sure somewhere in the internet, there actually is a manga drawing of a girl with arms for boobs... with anime, the only limit is your imagination

@sammeh- anime is all about cuteness... and not all of them have an adult subtext! That's just the most memorable ones (see above). Here's some really cute anime you'd probably like:

Azumanga daioh: a show about an adorable 12-year-old HS student, and her adventures with her HS friends. OMG FRIKKIN CUTE!

Lucky star: The "Seinfeld" of anime. A show about absolutely nothing... For example, the entire first episode, they were talking about which side of a chocolate cookie is the "head"... they never really figured it out.

@ashton- see above for the BEST ANIME SHOWS EVER to get you started.
