Title: Tie Snapping

I just realized that you can use the anti-tie gene from Endy's alga:
Code: [Select]
32000 .tielen1 store
An a very effective anti-birthtie gene. What's more, it propells young away from their parents so:I'm running it in an evo sim at the moment and it allows cannibot populations to thrive without much of the baby-eating that plagues other cannibots. And also makes them dependant on the gene so that it doesn't get deleted (or more accurately, when it does the bot dies).
Cannibiotism evolves because bots that become cannibiotistic have a great advantage (their conspecs don't fight back) but it is a poor long-term 'decision' for the species. This gene allows cannibiotism to be sustainable.

Just thought you might find it interesting.

Cool idea.

The max length of a tie is actually 1000 but the gene probably wouldn't work if you used that value. By going well beyond the limit, you give much more acceleration away from each other.

Interesting that tielen1 works on a birth tie. It shouldn't really since it is designed to work only on hardened ties. Also the phase of a birth tie is -1 which should not be accessable to the DNA.

I just love the way that new stuff keeps coming to light. The program just doesn't get old and boring this way.  :D

Just tested another Evobot prototype.

It builds up energy for 1000 or so cycles, then fixes and repros like mad until it dies. All of its many offspring fight it out for supremacy - survival of the fittest  :D

There's some crazy stuff going on in some of these evo sims:
- A bot using .repro to move   using action-reaction
- 'Bot guns' that fix and fire out tons of offspring as weapons

The bots are putting that gene to weirder uses than us!

Yey, evolution  ^_^

Sounds appalling to me. Imagine humans using those mechanisms.

hm 2.4 compatibility? (wanted to use that on my vegs to better distribute them)
