Title: Hey Shu
Post by: Numsgil on November 19, 2013, 08:07:52 PM
Saw this kickstarter and thought it looked interesting.

Basically an ecosystem simulation but dumbed way down to work as a casual game.  They're assuming to release it as a free to play game.   I backed it for a few bucks.

So how do you interact with the environment? All I see is a little Sun thing spreading seeds. Do I get to write my own plants even?

speciesgame.com looks like more evolution to me

No evolution or plant writing, no.  Just the managing/gardening aspect. It's for a casual market remember.

Speciesgame looks interesting too.  Less polished graphically but probably more involved.

It makes me sad to realize that I have worked 10 years on a project that is partially failing simply for poor graphics. (Talking about Darwinbots)
Feels very sad because due to medical needs, I can not get employed as a programmer for all my trouble, or I need awesome insurance.

Comments on this somewhat weird situation I find myself in are appreciated. Be back Friday to finish sorting the leagues.
MysticalDumpling, please have like 20 or 30 crap robots for me to sort by the time I get back. Thx.

I'm glad the focus never was on the graphics or I would have lost my interest in DB long ago.

What makes me sad is the flock mentality that makes people like the same things and do the same things. I've realized that people usually don't have any opinons or tastes. They just wants to belong and follow the hype. That's why you need publishers to make things sell because people don't really care about the products.

Popular = crap

Edit: Also I like it that this community isn't so big. It gives it a kind of cozy atmosphere.  :happy:
