       I just thought it deserved some sort of celebration!

Thanks to you for putting all the hard work in that you have and thanks to those that have helped you get this far. Keep up the good work!

F1 bots / Vex Obnoxious (F1)(PYmod)-pre V2.3

Ha! sorry, just a stroll down memory lane;

This is a really old bot and to be honest I can't remember what PY actually modded this bot for (other than to make it work following a program change), some of the early (PY) changes were quite drastic when you looked at the effect they had on the existing bots.

It does look like it was designed as a tie bot originally, *.refeye 12 != was to stop it tieing to it's babies as you can see from the *.trefeye 12 = later in the DNA and I do remember that wasn't a change PY made to the modded bots. It was to prevent a loop that bots could get stuck in at one point in the evolution of DB though.

There is a good chance it isn't feeding through the tie anymore as well.

As competition for another bot I doubt this bot is really worth bothering with anymore.

Cheers Peter,

I've only been back a couple of times but had noticed the new plans and am interested in how that pans out.

Had to look at this bivalence thingy but pretty quickly "Lukasiewicz introduced a third value" jumps out.
While I won't pretend to understand the depth to which logic can descend a 'third value' is what I had imagined the statement needed.

When it comes to logically proving anything: All the philosophers I have known have been pretty happy at their ability to argue that they can prove anything, the argument for a horse having an infinite number of legs jumps to mind.

While it was harder for me to picture the 1,2,3 statement I eventually figured that it was no different to saying [1: 1 is false], it's just a trick to take your attention away from the important bit, the distraction technique that illusionists use if you like.

Isn't that like where you have the options I, O, or I and O? Quantum computers or something.

I mean you have a statement and you have an answer to a statement and because it is not working the model can be considered to be wrong or the way of looking at the model can be considered to be wrong.

And the statement exits, it makes sense, I don't see why the statement is wrong.
Its only when I try to apply the rules of logic, as I know them, to the statement that I run into problems.

So maybe the rules of logic are not sufficient to deal with the problem and they need expanding.

Or maybe the logic is ok and you just need to look at it through 4 dimensional space. Although you might consider it only a two dimensional question.

I suggest you change the rules until the statement works...

Wow, I 'accidently' stumble back upon this site and the first thread I stumble upon is this one...

I believe in science (it's different from believing in God) Religion has never had the upper hand over science in any path apart from that involving faith. May the great god Eric temper my posit's; I will make the time to fully consider the arguments posted in this thread (not having, in a sort of religous way, taken time to consider them yet).

I appologise, without even looking at the first post, I have assessed this argument as comparable to the 'Snopes trial' without proper research but I expect to return with time to challenge.

My regards to you all;

Aaar, I remember the days' when newbies weren't as eloquent as that and purple was the in colour. Back in my day I knew how a video recorder worked, now it's a bit like I'm a technophobe, you new whatsitmagubbins have it far too easy if you ask me.

Bring back the days when Circumversor was one of the top bots and bugs were fixed along a scale of months not hours!

I remember how the pub looked and the beer tasted back when I was a young'n

Now it's punctuated equilibrium and I'm relegated to the fossil part;
I've gotta be back by six or they'll be out looking for me...

Never had a barman refuse me a drink for having craxy idea's yet but there is still time..,

I have to go with Eric on this one; the vast majority of scientists who study things like global warming think we are causing a problem so why shouldn't I? Do you have any idea how few degrees the oceans would have to warm before they're turned into giant methane jacuzzi's?

Hi Googley;

While I am not perhaps in a place to reply to the second question I think I can repy to the first; recognition of new-borns has always (for me) been an issue, I always avoided it by using a post-repro timer, this may not work if you are facing an enemy but **** happens: Being a mum isn't all goodness and candy!

Suggestions / vision - distance discrimination
« on: December 30, 2007, 08:34:06 PM »
In fact, to add to that; I dont' see why a wide vision eye should be able to see as far a as narrow vision eye. wide (vision) looks short long (vison) looks long is how I always imagined it, without getting into the whole trig argument.

Even, considering some of the games I play; eyes shoul cost for both introduction and use, 9? eyes is a bit of a eutopia...

Someone said "there is no such thing as a free lunch" and I think that epitaph should be applied more vigorously WRT (with respect to) eyes.

Suggestions / vision - distance discrimination
« on: December 30, 2007, 08:21:22 PM »
Just my thoughts; a bots eye's and therefore the vision distance should be measured from the outside of the bot, the precision of a bots eyesight should be related to the distance betweeen the eyes, as in trig or to analogise 'Leela' from a favoured cartoon of mine! This might screw 'single eye' bots but I guess that is fair, everything with an upside should have a downside...

Newbie / Hey / Noob-ish question
« on: December 30, 2007, 08:06:57 PM »
Good luck with your herbivore, they can be damn nasty critters seeing as they get free energy!

I think you are talking about having an internal counter to remember the number of offspring, that should be fairly easy allowing for mistakes, the second question I would address using 'sun' to calculate which direction the bot should be facing when it gives birth, if you are talking about having the 'parent' produce  a new 'baby' inbetween its last offspring and its self then I don't think that's possible, the 'baby' would have to be a certain distance away from the 'mother' before it could produce another 'youngster' in the same direction.

Regards, and welcome to the forum!

Bugs and fixes / League changes? RESOLVED (BY DESIGN)
« on: December 12, 2007, 02:30:18 PM »
Hiya Peter,

The leagues have never been re-run, by that I mean the bots in the league only got their position because of the performance they gave at the time they were tested.
This means that sometimes the top bot has become really rubbish (I.e. it was exploiting a bug when it was tested that has since been fixed) or they have suddenly become much better (again because of changes made to DB since they were tested).

I did try re-running the leagues once but 2BH it took ages and the version of DB at that time wasn't up to the job and so the league is still being run in the way PY originally intended it.

Even if I ever get off my arse and get round to adding the latest batch of bots to the league I have no intention of trying a full rerun of the leagues again...
