help

I wouldn't know what's up with the WIKI but I remember Shasta saying something about disabling it because of spam or somthing.
-
Shasta, PM me please when you re enable it. TY
-
Login error
There is no user by the name "Botsareus". Check your spelling.
Can I get a log-in account?
-
I created an account for you. I'll PM the password (you can change it).
-
thx Numsgil.
I still have no way to edit my part of the wiki, look in the attachment:
I get permission error....
-
That was on my end. You should be able to edit pages now. If we start getting a ton of spam again, stuff may get rolled back to how it is at this second.
-
Oh, Nice. The only questions I have left is how do I submit my files. Is this HTML? I notice all the file downloads are pointing back to your server.
-
Upload it as an attachment to the forum and then link the wiki that way. We have a FTP set up, but I don't want to give the credentials out until we've finished setting up backups, etc. (Shasta, speaking of, let me know what to do to start pulling backups from the server to my local machine).
-
ok, give me some time to write a description on how everything works. (It is not exactly platform independent)
I also want to add one more tweak before I post it. I hope it will fit into one zip file, If It does not I will let you know.
-
You might also try packing the EXE. Darwinbots packs way down. See UPX (http://upx.sourceforge.net/).
-
Actually, I will need to submit a bunch of source codes.(I am always running from vb so I can debug on the fly, and I never wrote a standalone version of my code. I am waiting for chloroplast DB to work so I don't have to recode all of my updates from 2.45.1 when it does become a stable version. I am using 2.44.1 right now, I gutted and changed the heck out of 'evo db')
My code consists of
'evo db'
'db F1 mode testing'
and about 7 controllers (source code provided so people can recode for there OS)
P.S.
Right now I am describing how the controllers work so people can recode them to match there OS.
-
Create a SVN "patch" for any changes you want to make and someone (either me or Shasta probably) will take a look and critique, and if it looks good we'll submit it.
If you're using SmartSVN you can make a patch by going to Query->Create Patch. Other SVN GUIs should have something similar.
-
That's my point, it looks very bad. That's why I just want to submit it to 'Botsareus's version" on the wiki first. That was my whole point of this post.
(Hey, at-least it has no errors)
see quote:

There is also a completely separate version for F1 testing, and all the controller codes. I wish I had time to work on my descriptions but I am tied up until the err 29th, I will let you know how my first show as a DJ goes :P
-
I don't understand. If you want others to play with the version, build an EXE of it and post it. If you want to submit code changes, submit them as a SVN patch.
-
I will submit code changes...
After thinking more about it, the SVN is probably the best way to go anyway.
-
update: I have finished merging the skin code that I want to demo with my main code. Also, to prevent very unnecessarily long DNA I have created an update to my dynamic mutation overload correction:
The Red line indicates where DNA length passes 10000 if D.M.O.C. was liner.
The blue line is the 10000 mark
The green line indicates where DNA length passes 10000 with the current version of D.M.O.C.
-
OK done with my description (more or less) now just formatting everything nicely, adding description and screen shot to the folder I am going to submit, and submitting everything tomorrow. I hope my old SVN account still works...
-
So I click create patch, specify a path for the .diff file, then what?
I would love to just submit a new tag because the source code is structured completely different (for example: I have two separate versions that I modified)
-
Can you zip up the patch and send me the file? I'll possibly critique it then post it to either the head or a branch (I have some free time coming up with Thanksgiving).
-
Stupid google mail is screaming at me for trying to send .exe files, even when I go trough and delete all the files
-
Hope this works (PART 1)
-
(PART 2)
-
(PART 3)
Never mind the email, I was able to send everything trough the forum.
Wow, that means we do not need to mess with SVN.
-
Man, I'm not going to figure out what changes you've made against 2.44.1 and then port those up to the trunk. I do enough of that in my day job. You want to make a contribution? Grab the code from the SVN trunk, make changes to it, and send me the SVN diff file. I know you know all about that, since you already asked very specific questions about the process in this very thread!
If you don't want to submit your changes to the trunk, you can just release a modified EXE.
-
That is fine Numsgil, It is an alpha release anyway. At least people can see what I have been working on all this time.
I figure we make chloroplasts work and by that time I will ask you for a SVN password... (eventually I want to prove myself to you guys so I can have admin privileges for the leagues, therefor I will not have to bug Panda , I'll just correctly tag the robots myself. But that is after I fix Pandas chloroplast code and I finish my own updates.)
Just please don't delete this posts with my attachments, ty
Now if only I can make Panda or Sashta to reply to http://forum.darwinbots.com/index.php/topic,3589.msg1384040.html#new (http://forum.darwinbots.com/index.php/topic,3589.msg1384040.html#new)
