Hi
I've been messing around with alife simulators for a while, and I have to say this is the only one ive found that is free and still remains simple enough to use, but complex enough to be entertaining. It's also the only one with a forum that I have seen.
I'm still learning to make bots, most of mine don't even get to the eating part yet.
They are very good at finding food but just run into it and bounce off.
If anyone knows y this is please help.
c ya

You'll need another gene that checks if you're close to a veg.  Then you need to slow down.

Have you looked at PY's tutorial?  It can be found at the old FTP server (http://utenti.lycos.it/darwinbots/).

I too wrote a (albeit much smaller) tutorial that's on the wiki.  darwinbots.xwiki.com (http://darwinbots.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/view/Manual.BotTut/BasicBot)

Check out Animal Minimalis in the beastiary.  It's a small bot that manages to reproduce and find food.

I'm sorry I can't find the code, but I will try making a new one with a gene to slow it down.

is PY's tutorial the one on v2.35?
if it is, then I think I messed up loading it or something, becuase it just contains a bunch of txt files that start with an error message, and lots of icon and picture files
any idea how to fix it?
do I have to change any of the other db files?
do I have to unzip it to a certain spot?

The tutorial is just a word file that explains how to build a simple bot.  Click here: http://utenti.lycos.it/darwinbots/DarwinBo....3_Tutorial.zip (http://utenti.lycos.it/darwinbots/DarwinBotsV2.3_Tutorial.zip) to get it.

You need to download "DarwinBots Tutorial V2.3.zip"

As Shvarz said it is a word document with a bunch of small robot DNA text files that you can load into DarwinBots as you go along.

BTW Welcome to DarwinBots. Just ask if you need help with anything.
