Overflow in 2.4.9
« on: November 14, 2005, 07:50:46 PM »
I got an unknown overflow in version 2.4.9. The program saved the sim as 'error.sim', but I can't upload that file. Tried both rar and zip formats. It says I can't upload that kind of file. It also doesn't enter debug mode despite I'm running the source code. How the hell am I supposed to report the bug???

I tried to load my saved sim to run it again, then I got the same error again. The sim is broken. Have to start a new one. BLAH!  :banghead:

I can upload the settings file and maybe you can reproduce this error.

After you load the settings file you need to change the following:

GENERAL tab:

Corpse mode set to NRG.

NRG slider set to 25.

PHYSICS AND COSTS tab:

Fluid button pressed down.

Thin fluid selected.

Movement efficiancy set to Biological.

After 20000 cycles you can lower the waste treshold to 250. Maybe that's what caused the overflow.

Also I think you should allow 'RAR' files to be uploaded here!

Try renaming it something other than zip.  Try calling it like db2 or something.

To debug it from the source code, you have to search the source code for "error.sim".  In that function, near the top, is a section that will say "on error goto errorsim" or something like that.  You need to comment it out...

Anyway, dispair not!  Later on I'm going to set my computer up as an FTP like I did in the summer, and you'll be able to just upload sims directly onto my computer.

Have you uploaded a 'rar' file to this forum? If I can't, how can you? That doesn't make sense, does it??

This is crazy. I tried to change the name of the file, it doesn't help. Also the file size expanded from 64 KB to 314 KB just by changing the name from 'error.rar' to 'error.wri'!

Yes I did.  In fact, I always upload files as rar archives.  Tried something else at first, but then found out that rar is allowed and used it since then.

Does not make sense...

Found the problem and fixed it.

I'm uploading 2.4.A (hexidecimal XD) as I type.

You should be able to load your simulation into 2.4.A and continue on your merry way.

Uh... Is that like a new version of 2.4 or is it the name of the save file?
