Save/load function in 2.37.5.
« on: November 12, 2005, 05:42:37 AM »
Yeah, you've heard it before, but I think it's very important to get this thing to work. Not everybody have an extra computer whyere they can keep running it endlessly. Sometimes one has to quit the program to do otherstuff, then all the simulation time is wasted.

I think the save/load sim function works in 2.37.5 Testlund ... ?????
it seems to for me ...
although I am not sure all of the settings are retained.
gee ... wouldn't that be a nice thing to fix?

now I haven't played with autosave ...
because I'm not sure I can get it to overwrite and produce only one sav file ...
I don't need to save a sequence of them ...
[I don't have room] ...
just the last one before it crashes.

the error.sim save is a good thing for this ...
but doesn't exist in 2.37.5 ... only in 2.4
this would be a very helpful addition for those of us trying to find
a version we can actually use.

I haven't had a chance to compare versions using the WindDiff prog ...
to see what changes have been made and if they can be 'refitted'
back into 2.37.5
and ... I have no idea what I am doing!!! ...
but it seems we are on our own here.
PY is doing his best for sure with the time he has ...
but Nums, who already knows how to fix these ...
doesn't seem interested in helping us new pukes out ...
too busy playing with the 'latest/greatest/it's new/it's improved' version.
I just don't think it's asking too much to FIRST ...
have a version that does what it is supposed to do.
this is what is so frustrating ...
trying to get a good working version for those of us who only want
a version to actually use while the new 2.4x is being developed.

Save/load function in 2.37.5.

There are two things that may happen when I try to load a saved sim:

1. If I just start up the program without starting any new sim, or if I load in a settings file and click on change, and THEN click to load a sim, nothing happens at all. The screen stays empty and blue.

2. If I start a new sim and then click on loading a new sim I get a run-time 11.

Before I load the sim I make sure I have the same settings as I did when I saved the sim, to make sure no conflicts appear, but that doesn't seem to help.

All this works perfectly in version 2.4.9 though. There I can load both manual saved and autosaved sims plus insert autosaved bots. Thankyou, Nums!

Your welcome.  Glad to see some of my hard work is making people happy ;)

2.37's saves probably are 99% working, and there's just one little kink inthem that's throwing the whole thing off.  Thing with those saves is that if they get even a single byte off, the whole thing is broken.

Point is it probably won't be too hard to fix.
