Bugs in 2.36.7
« on: October 24, 2005, 03:59:41 PM »
I read PurpleYouko is working on debugging 2.36.7 so maybe I could post about the bugs I've discovered there. Wasn't sure if you all had gone over to 2.4 first. Okey....

The problem is that after a simulation has been running for awhile it either crashes displaying the error message 'Run-time error 6, or the program just hangs and has to be shut down through Ctrl-Alt-Delete.

Some things doesn't get saved in the settings file in the GUI.

The draw boxes on the first page is messed up.

Mutations doesn't stay enabled on the 'Mutation rates' tab.

Clicking on 'Robot Options->Show robot info->Dna generates Run-time error 91: Object variable or With block variable not set.

Robots behave a weird: Multiply-explode, getting stuck, keep eating offspring forever without moving.

That's all, I think.  :bigginangel:

OK that's good for a start.

Now to make things really good, how about you download VB and the source code from the FTP site and run the code that way.

Then when you get an error you can hit the debug button then report to me exactly which line of code is effected. It will make things much quicker to debug that way.

Also I have to decide whether to work from 2.36.7 of 2.37.4.

I still prefer 2.23.7 as a starting point in many ways.

2.37, if I remember correctly, didn't add that many new things.  I think it fixed internet sharing and saving/loading sims primarily.

Where have you hidden the source code for 2.36.7? It's not here nor on the old ftp site.

I prefere 2.36.7 too. It's the most stable IMO.

Haven't tried running a source code through VB, but...It's a piece of cake, right?  :D

VB is made to be easy.  It's not hard to pick up.

I haven't noticed this one ... but I  do concur with the other bugs you list ...
and am indeed familiar with my old friend RTE6 (run time error 6) ;)

2.23.7???  don't know.  I use 2.36.7 for stability, 2.37.4 so I can load settings ...
but as Testlund says ... many of the settings don't 'take' anyway.
Whatever is going to work best for you guys to debug ...
as long as I can find the source codes for them  ...
I'll try to help by running it thru VB and lend a hand.

As soon as PY tells me what version I should run through VB I'm on to it.  ^_^
