I don't know... I think pain is just part of life.  I don't think pain is a cruelty though.  when little animals play they are causing some extent of pain.  I think its only cruelty if you cause someone pain for a mallicious reason.  if you tourture someone then you're being cruel, if you are walking and you stub your toe then pain isn't cruelty just a part of life.

I mean, I don't know of anyone that really seriously considers it as such to the point of not making bots to battle for that reason...

but it's not a far stretch of the imagination to imagine such a time.

we arn't really forcing them to battle to extingtion we just put them in he same area as each other and they compete for resorces to the death
