Of course not!  Because, according to uncertainty principle, until the bots, or us, or any observer at all "observes" the value for *.pain, it exists in a quasi state of all possible states, including negative (pleasure) and positive (pain).

Thus, on average, a bot that does not check on *.pain feels nothign whatsoever.

You don't collapse the quantum probability function until you actually read the .pain memloc.  :D

Exactly.  Of course, now we're getting into quantum bot mechanics, which is always confusing.
