Naa! It'll run from anywhere provided the file hierarchy is the same. I run mine off a network drive.

All the default setting files you get with the main install give funky simulations in todays newer patches.

I've been really meaning to create a new install, but that means a small project of gathering up all the different bots I can find and figuring out how install shield works...  And it's a pain basically.

I'll just keep the default.set as simple as possible ...
and then hopefully be able to run the sim and save settings/simulations.
