Check your nrg/cycle settings in the optiopns panel.  Under general tab I believe.  Will of course need to be a reasonable value (say 1 to 10).

Here's a screenshot from 2.37.4 if it helps!

Set that value to something reasonable and you are ready to go  :D

Also, welcome to the forums!

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

Yes yes.  I'm curious  as to the situation with sexual reporduction and cross computer open-ecologies is but that's probably best put in some different thread.

We can cover it whereever.  The current version (2.37.4) has been having trouble being stable for extra long reaches of time.  I've done my best to isolate problems, but most sims can't seem to last more than a few million cycles.

I have some saves that trigger this instability, so It's just a matter of loading them in the VB front end and running them all night.

Once the program is as stable as the 2.36 then longer sims are more possible.

Internet sharing currently is possible, but I'm the only one whos ever tried donating their computer for it, but the FTP software is only available on one partition, and I tend to use the others, you get the idea.

I've just finished redoing the DNA so that I can start working on the idea of chromosomes, which will make sexual reproduction almost automatic.
