How to turn off sun perminently during a simulation?

Just go to general settings and set 'initial light energy' to zero. Then click the change button instead of start new.
'Initial' in this case means the light energy before it gets formatted by environmental conditions in different ways. i.e. What sun rays look like before they enter the atmosphere.
