I may be able to do something about that later.

I actually have a CD of office 2002 at home which has an "official" open license from Microsoft. I may be able to post a zip of it to either Darwinbots.com or the old FTP site.

I will let you know later  ;)
OK then I have some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that it is possible to put my Excel setup files into a zip and post it to the FTP

The bad news is that I can't seem to get to the FTP from home (where the zip file is). I tried emailing myself the file but it has mysteriously failed to arrive at my work PC so I will have to try again tonight.

I will get it up ASAP.

Snapshot kind of still does not save the whole dna file for "TheOne" it just runs out of room on it. Maybe its an excel issue?

I was thinking on this to make save settings backwords compatible:

Make the program count how mutch lines there are in the settings file before loading it; after it gets the magic number , make seporate loading routines for each case (means a lot more code, but gives you backwords compatible).

(Kinda Tricky still because first you have to make it figure out how mutch different species are in the file.)

I think early versions of Excel may be limited to 255 characters in a cell so it is possible that really long genes might not fit.

I will check it out with a test run of my own. I know my Excel can hold more than 255 characters per cell so we will see.

OK checked it out.

The_One saved perfectly and appeared just fine in Excel.
I then created a robot file from it and tested it back in DB.
That worked perfectly too.

It must be your Excel that is the problem Bots

Ok, thanks alot.

Oh, and it had been bugging me, but I finally found out who it is in your avatar, PY. I thought it was someone on Inuyasha at first.

My Avatar isn't directly out of anything.

It was created from a picture of Kurama (Yuyu Hakusho) but has been substantially altered to make a suitable "Youko" (Fox spirit) form.
In other words the ears have been added and the coloration has been changed.

Oh, I see. I thought that maybe you had taken it from Kurama's flashback on one of the movies and turned the hair purple.
