I have just uploaded a newer version of the snapshot decoder for Excel. (in both FTP sites)
I have added a feature allowing you to instantly create a robot DNA file from any one of the robots.
Just press the button, enter the robot ID number at the prompt and the program will create a text file containing all the DNA for your selected robot. This file will have the same name as the robot ID and will be stored in the same directory that you took the snapshot file from.
You can run the file directly into DB as a robot.

It's not all altruism here though.

I started messing with some simple mutations myself and got frustrated that it was so darned hard to recombine the genes to make a viable robot again.
You can do it by cutting and pasting each gene one by one but that took too long and I am basically a lazy bastard  B)

It was actually faster for me to write the code to add the new option than it was for me to hand copy a dozen robots.

And they call "sloth" (laziness) one of the deadly sins too.  <_<

I think laziness is the driving force behind most labor saving inventions these days.

What I did was to paste the whole thing into notepad, highlight the long space and Ctrl-H it to single-space.  That made the DNA functional, although a bit messy :)  Your way is better :)

I don't see it on either FTP.  Could you give a direct link?

Actually I don't see it on DarwinBots.com either. Wonder what happened there.

I do see it on the old FTP though. It is the same as always,
snapshot.xls
Just click this link to directly open the Excel file or follow links to old ftp server to download it.

Darwinbots.com requires you to change the index.html file manually.  I just haven't set up (don't know how) the FTP to do it automatically.
