Lost Sims 3 (GAME) product key
« on: February 23, 2010, 02:29:04 PM »
So my sister bought the sims 3(it’s a game) and it performed poorly on her computer so she gave it to me to play. But the problem is she cant find the case and I can't install the game without the CD key. There has to be a way to get around this without buying a whole new game? Any advice?

Search google for cd key, but I don't know if it's legal

Well you could return it or call the company or something. I had a simmiliar problem with my age of empires 3 account. My account was either stolen or there was a glitch in their server or something. But I already had the product key. There might be a way to hack it but I'm not sure if its legal and you probably wouldn't be able to use any online features. Come to think of it, this is why I avoid PC games.

I've mailed EA before and just got a key mailed back.
You can easily find a no-CD crack somewhere on the internet.

The point that the user registered just now and posted this in a random section tends to let me think this is a bot.

It's not a bot.  But it is a spammer.  clicky.

I've deleted the user.

Why would anyone spam about a lost product key. Its kind of random. Its not like they were asking for passwords or advertising a website.

It gets a lot of replies, even after the user has been deleted. Hence a spam bot...

If your sister has it installed still (or did a standard uninstall which tends to leave junk behind) you could try searching her registry for the key then create backup for it and restore to your system - many games store it there, not sure about Sims 3

Oh great, and now the followup spammer ^^

Not spam bots.  It's someone manually spamming.

Dont do ANYTHING to the computer.

Open the registry editor, and find the folder for the Sims 3. Look for the product key entry.

There you go. I had to do that when i found out that I must have gotten my product key for Company of Heroes; Opposing Fronts from tech support because it wasn't on the manual where it should have been. And there it was, right in the registry.

But..   why? What's the spamming incentive here?
Lancre operated on the feudal system, which was to say, everyone feuded all
the time and handed on the fight to their descendants.

Someone just has a list of forums somewhere.  Spammers go through the list and post links, sometimes quite cleverly, as in this case.
