Wondered who would be the first to ask that. Should have figured it would be you Bots.

Did you try pressing it yet?

It is actually just a test to see how easy it would be to have a toggle on the toolbar which affects the shape and design of robots. I am thinking about having various shapes instead of just circles and wanted to see how easy it would be to implement.
I think it will work out just fine.
We can have triangles, squares, pentagons etc. and make the number of sides subject to mutation and possibly even make bots fit together in different ways (like two triangles locking together to make a square MB)

Just playing and trying out new ideas really.

I had just read Flatland, and was wondering how to ask about doing that...weird :)

I think a square version like this:

~[]-[]
~ |X|
~[]-[]

would work better as an MB since bots wouldn't be able to get/hide between them.
