Yeah I also thought 1 was suposed to be the minimum, but I guess it must have found a way around that.
If it was acting like a blob and had such a small body size then I think it could have been the infected seasnake you got, I know it was dominating IM for a while...
But I can't get IM to work atm, last I got something in it was a seasnake infected with the fruitflies virus once, and infected twice by some other virus.
Looked like this :

The last one posted had a very interesting behavior, it no longer killed alge, and tie to everything including it's own, forming some kind of fungus wigling around and tieing the alge together, but only with very few bots. (It used to eat up everything in few second and grow heavily in numbers, now it keeps a low population and keeps the alge alive)
So it seemed like it had lost it's power, but if I intrudced carnivored to the sim the new species would attack the alge and the infected bots suddenly exploded in population killing evything in sight, then once the threat was eliminated they would go back to their previous behavior...
I'm not sure how it's doing that, but seemed to work realy well for some reason. Probably because it's not very strong against mutations, so the original rapid reproduction was causing it to devolve.
But I was kind of curious to see if it would eventualy lead to a dead end, or if it was still evolving on IM... saw there was 6000 seasnakes, but the population never updates and I never recieve anything from outside... only from old sims I was running myself... very old sims by now...
