Darwinbots won't start RESOLVED (NO BUG)
« on: June 10, 2008, 04:46:11 PM »
When I try to start DarwinBots, it complains that it's missing ToolBox.msi. This file didn't come with the game. How do I get it?

It's not a Darwinbots thing.  Darwinbots doesn't use anything called ToolBox.msi.  Some program you installed has nerfed all visual basic programs to require this (bogus?) file.  this thread talks about it briefly, for instance.  I had a similar problem once after I installed some game (I think it was Power Politics III).  The guy in the thread's cure was to use system restore.  You can also try uninstalling various programs in the control panel.  Other than that, a full reformatting and reinstalling of the OS will work, but it's a huge pain, and you have to more or less know what you're doing.

I know that isn't a quick and easy answer like you wanted   I would recommend as a first step going through control panel->add/remove programs and uninstall everything that you don't want on your computer anymore, as a good first step.  You might get lucky and remove the offending bit of software.  At the very least it's a good spring cleaning of your OS

Unfortunately, system restore didn't work. I used regedit to remove everything that says "ToolBox.msi", and it worked!
